The Inner Man

“The Innerman”

Recently the Lord gave me a word about how the enemy had been coming against so many people across this nation for the sole purpose of hindering their ability to strengthen their inner man. Countless people in the body of Christ have been bombarded with sickness, financial difficulties and mental harassments. All of which are designed to hinder those in the body of Christ from building themselves up on their most holy faith.  I want to assure you that while there might still be some unpleasant things going on around you, this massive attempt of the enemy to interrupt the development of your spiritual man is over. You have broken through into another dimension of the spirit where your inner man will rapidly reveal a whole new level of glory and power. The enemy has long dreaded the day when the people of God would break into a bold new measure of kingdom authority.

Right now the government of our nation appears to be more divided than ever, but this division is nothing less than a smoke screen to keep the people of God from seeing a unity of government unlike anything they have ever known before. I am reminded of the year 2005 when the Lord showed me that the dividing governmental walls of this nation would come down. This nation is on the brink of a great conversion when every political party will dissolve into a new form of government. Not a government constructed by the hands of man, but a government that only God can establish. Will there be opposition? Yes. But the gates of the opposing forces will not prevail against a standard of righteousness that many never dreamed possible.

History has proven time and time again that our greatest victories have come out of the valley of despair. They have come from men and women before us who have persevered and endured. They have come from walking by faith and not by sight. One of the greatest things the body of Christ can do for their nation, even in the nations of the world, is to press into the kingdom of God and give special attention to the building of the inner man. I know this is no new revelation for many people in the body of Christ, but the measure of strength and might manifesting in our lives is largely dependent upon the workings of the inner man within us. Only then are we able to walk in the fullness of God, which is the working of the spirit without measure.

Thus the words of Paul:

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God .” (Eph3:14-19)

Do not let the enemy pull you into a fight with flesh and blood, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”(Eph 6:12-13) (2Cor 10:4-5)

A Spirit of Death

At the beginning of this year I was being tormented by a spirit of death. It was one of the most spiritual intense times I had ever encountered in quite some time. One night in the midst of a dark harassment, the spirit of the Lord moved upon me and brought to my mind the power of His love. In that moment I fixed my eyes, my thoughts, all of my emotions on one thing; how much God really loved me and how much I really loved Him. The enemy kept coming at me trying to get me to look at this and that, but I just stayed extremely focused on God's amazing love for me. It wasn’t long until I was completely overwhelmed by a supernatural manifestation of the love of God, so much so, that the forces of evil immediately fled the room. It was then when I realized just how powerful those words really are; “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1Jn 4:18-19)

We love Him because He first loved us. Wow! Does He ever! Had it not been for the strength of my inner man rising up in that moment I don’t know if I would have been able to break free of the tormentor long enough to fix my affections on the intense reality of God’s love for me.

The Lord reminded me of a paragraph from a book I had written entitled, “Evolution of Another Kind.” The quoted paragraph was from the chapter entitled, “Beyond Measure” which reads: “Then I heard the angel of the Lord declare,” “They are beyond measure! Do not bring the rods this way, for what they have can no longer be measured!”

This chapter came from an experience in 2006 when the Lord showed me what the body of Christ would look like in the future. I saw a time when the glory table of the Lord would rise so high within His people; that the glory of His temple would no longer be able to be measured. This is a picture of what Habakkuk saw when he wrote:

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Hab2:14)

It is also a revelation of what Isaiah saw in his day when he wrote:

“They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Isa11:9)

Unlimited Portion

For years we have been taught that we each have been given a measure of faith, grace and gifting. One of our famous scriptural quotes has been:

“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. (Rom 12:3)

The word “measure” comes from the Greek word “metron.” This is where we get the word metre (meter) which is used to measure length, flow, line of poetry, music, literature etc. Measure is ultimately defined as a “limited portion.” While Paul reveals the fact that we are all given a limited portion, his intentions behind his writings were never meant to keep us confined to a limited measure; a limited realm. He was simply stating that we are given a measure for the sole purpose of entering into an unlimited measure of glory and power. At the same time, Paul cautions us not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought, which is the act of trying to operate outside of the measure that is actually working in us. This does not mean that we are not to take risks or step out of the boat, in faith, expecting to see the power of God revealed.  However, we are equally cautioned not to pretend to walk in a measure that is outside our sphere of operation.

Again Paul writes:

“For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us — a sphere which especially includes you. For we are not overextending ourselves (as though our authority did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ; not boasting of things beyond measure, that is, in another persons labors, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere... (2 Cor 10:12-16)

It is evident here that our measure or sphere of operation includes various people groups; tribes and nations. I have seen many people over the years try to take on the appearance of having an international influence when in reality their current measure working in them is no larger than a local church, city or region. However, regardless of the graphics of ministry, we are still called to demonstrate the love and power of God in our sphere without measure. This undoubtedly was the life that Jesus lived prior to His earthly departure.

So, if we are going to take residence in this unlimited kingdom, then building up our inner man must be the number one priority in our lives. As a people in God we should be more concerned about strengthening our inner man than the affairs of this nation. Over the last few months I have watched countless people get sucked into the fears of the world. On the other hand, there are other believers across this nation who have fixed their attention on the glory and power of God with such intensity that they are beginning to see awesome displays of God’s glory and power. You and I carry the key to a glorious tomorrow. We each have a measure of the spirit that is destined to overcome all the works of the enemy.

Extreme Measures

After coming into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, the development of our inner man begins to take on a whole new look. The beginning of this inward construction starts with an insatiable hunger and thirst after righteousness.

Jesus said:

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” (Matt 5:6)

We are living in an hour when a supernatural hunger and thirst for righteousness is taking an entire generation by storm. The eventual outcome will affect generations to come. Hungering and thirsting for the glory of Jesus Christ is the primary initiator for developing the inner man. Show me someone who does not hunger and thirst for righteousness and I’ll show you someone who is hindering the growth of their inward being. Without hungering and thirsting for righteousness we cannot be filled. Being filled is nothing less than being filled with the fullness of God. The word “filled” is the Greek word “chortazo” which means to gorge yourself with whatever you hunger and thirst for the most. So the key to developing our inner man is to gorge ourselves with the word, with His presence; with His glory. No doubt this sounds extreme, but then, we are living in the midst of an extreme generation. Only the mind of an extremist can really grasp what it means to pursue something with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Imagine God waiting for an extreme generation who would one day pursue Him with all that is within them.

Because of this insatiable desire, the earth is about to be impacted (affected) by the supernatural force of the inner man-without-measure. It’s time for the body of Christ to increasingly pray in the spirit, to meditate on the word of God, to exercise faith at every turn. Though you might be facing some of the most difficult times of your Christian journey, now is not the time to shrink back. Quite the contrary, this is the time to press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil 3:14) If we stay our course, we will undoubtedly see a greater measure of Christ; of faith working in us. The eventual outcome will be the evidence of being rooted and grounded in the love of God beyond measure. Our spiritual and natural comprehension will increase exponentially, all of which, will lead us into the fullness of God. This is the hour for our innermost being to reach its destiny, to live in the spirit, without measure. Come on God!
